Abinav Sankar joined Sopris Venture Capital in 2016 and is a Partner. He has been involved in principal investing since 2012.

Prior to joining Sopris Venture Capital, Mr. Sankar was in Private Equity at Black Diamond Capital Management focused on buyout investments and operational improvement of portfolio companies primarily in Industrial and Consumer related sectors. Mr. Sankar began his career in the Principal Investments arm of Macquarie Capital, where he concentrated on special situations and invested across the capital structure in a variety of industries including Technology, Industrials, and Gaming & Lodging.

Mr. Sankar received a B.S.B.A. in Finance from THE Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business.

Outside of the office, Mr. Sankar enjoys snowboarding, golf, travel, food, Cleveland sports, and Ohio State football.

Originally from the Cleveland, Ohio area, Mr. Sankar currently splits time between Big Sky, Montana and Miami, Florida.
